The London Olympics 2012

“Kia Ora Readers” This term is a new start for term 3. Pt England schools new term topic is Go for gold. Go for gold is Ptenglands definition of saying The Olympics. This year is 2012.
4 years ago the Olympics were held at the capital city of China, Beijing.
This year The Olympics is at the capital city of England which is London.

On the Olympic Flag, you will see 5 different coloured rings. Each colours stand
for 5  continents Which is America, Africa, Europe, Asia and lastly Oceania.

The Olympics is a tournament that every talented Athlete goes to compete against other athletes around the world.The Olympic happens after every 4 years.

This year I hope that The Olympics will really impress the audience and I.
I’m really looking forward to the Olympics it’s just 2 days away.

My Favourite Sport Netball

At the beginning of the Netball trials I was never interested in netball. All of my friends Vanila, Tule, Aniesha and Aliza were playing netball so I  felt left out . Vanila saw how I felt  left out so then she said, "come with us and play so you do not feel left out." The next day on Thursday I came to the netball trials, I was so nervous because I had no idea how to play .

On Monday we had to see who made it onto the team. I was thinking negative about making it and was so surprised when my friends came to me and said that I had made the team . I was excited and nervous at the same time because I knew the tournaments were only a few weeks away and I still wasn’t sure about my skills. I really had no idea of how to play.

My coach's name is Mrs Nua. Mrs Nua trains two teams, year 6 Team 2 and year 8 team 2 . I think that she is a very good coach. Every time we have a tournament she is always there to support both of her teams. If one of the netball players make a mistake she always say it doesn't matter you learn from your mistakes.

Next time, I hope I learn from my mistakes and make my team, my coach, and of course myself happy.  

Oscar Claude Monet

Pt England school has different subjects for each term.
Our term topic is Art Alive . The seniors at Pt England
school have rotations,the reason we have rotations is because each class we go
to,We learn different artist and styles. The artist that I have learnt about is Vincent Van Gogh,Oscar Claude Monet,Henri Matisse and last of all Picasso.

This week in Rm 18 we have been set, to take a picture of “my favourite” place and then draw it, using a style to inspire one of the artist we studied.

The artist style I selected to draw “my favourite place” is
Oscar Claude  Monet. I chose Oscar because he loves to paint nature,
so I said “this artist style is the best for my favourite place,it suits
perfectly”.Monet uses small strokes on his painting , from far it looks realistic
but up close you can see his strokes.

I hope my painting of “my favourite place “ comes out just like Oscar
Claude Monet, how he uses his strokes and how his colours blend in.

Pt England school has different subjects for each term. Our term topic is Art Alive. In my classroom (Rm 18), The students have been asked to  select a favourite place for our writing . My school is near the beach so my teacher, Mr Barks allowed us to go with his daughter Laurien to the beach and take photos for our writing .


When we got to the beach my friend Tule  and I were searching for our own favourite place. I went down to the beach to seek if anything interesting was there. Then I saw this beautiful big rock, It was a flat rock with a small tide pool in it, so I said to myself “this would be good for my favourite place writing”.


I chose this photo for my writing because it looks creative and also of the reflection and how the sun puts its sunlight on the beach.

I like how its got dark colours, and how its got
a nice shape and angel. It’s nice how the water flows on the rocks
also  how the white colour blends into the water.

Percy Jackson and the lightning thief

In my classroom, (Room 18) every student got put into reading groups.
My group is called the Trumps . Each group has a story to read ,
once they've read it then they have to write about the story, also their dislikes and likes.

My group novel story is called Percy Jackson and the lightning thief.

Percy Jackson is a person who gets into a lot of trouble.
A  few years ago, Percy was  a student at Boarding school , A school for troubled students .Percy got expelled from six schools .


Percy and his friends go on a mission to prevent a war between the gods Zeus, 
Poseidon and Hades.




My favourite part of the story, is the beginning . Percy Jackson told the readers
to close this book immediately and believe what ever lie your mom or dad told you, I said to myself "this story is quite funny" .

What I like about the story is how they use punctuation,I got to learn new punctuation.

When I grow up I want to be as good as this writer, using punctuation in the right place ,
capital letters on the right word.

Supermoon

8th May 2012

Last week Sunday  the 6th of May at night time my family and I were driving back from
a birthday party, I notest the moon was very huge and brighter then it was as usual .
I told my aunt dosnt that moon look a lot bigger and brighter she agreed.


My family and I got home and the news was on, It said that was the first time the
moon was bigger and brighter they named it the Supermoon .
The Super moon is 10 percent larger then usual.

This is the closest  moon that has ever got to earth.

Art Alive

Our subject for Term 2 is about Art Alive
Art Alive is for us Seniors to get to know some Artist ,
Did you know that every Artist has their own style?
(Picasso) picasso’s style is kind of weird but very creative.
he loves to paint faces, the face faces  front and another face facing side
and both of the faces are stuck together as one face and it looks
very interesting and real just like the picture below.
